The all American

I got  to thinking about it and I really enjoy reading and looking at the looks Kieran puts up. It looked like fun so I decided to give it a go. This is what I came up with when I was thinking about how much fashion varies country to country. I am hoping that this will be a first in a couple of posts about the fashions of other country's and their comparisons to the American "norm".
In my opinion the style of the average American girl is laid back, casual, but very classic. Most American girls have a way to their look that says "I just threw this on", but at the same time they still look amazing (I really do wish I could figure out how they do that, as I, an American girl take forever figuring out what to wear). I used mostly brands that I love wearing so making this collage was quite fun :) Note that is is not me stereotyping anyone, this is just what I see the most of in my area. The ones on the right are plus sized.

5 Ways to Instantly Wake Up Your Face

Hello lovelies!

I've been a horrible blogger lately, I know. I've just been soooo busy in my life that it's been hard for me to find the time to really sit down and blog. I'm working on it, I promise!. :)

So, on to the topic of this post:

We've all had one of those days where we don't feel like putting on a full face of makeup, but can't ignore how... tired we look! So I thought it would be a good idea to share with you my 5 ways to instantly wake up your face! These are all things that I've done and rely on for when I don't have the time/energy to do a full face of makeup, but still want to look fresh and awake!

1. Moisturize: I find that if I make sure I apply plenty of moisturizer, my skin looks so much more awake and clean, as apposed to the look of dry, tired skin.

2. Concealer: If you don't want to put on a full face of foundation, I would suggest concealing any under-eye circles and redness you might have around your nose, mouth, cheeks, wherever. I also use a little bit of foundation and apply it over my eyelids up to my eyebrows, because that is the spot that for me is the most red. This instantly wakes my face up every time!

3.  Eyebrows: I have sad eyebrows. A while ago I had a bad breakout of eczema on my face and was constantly rubbing and itching my face, and my eyebrows became very sparse and thin. It's been a few years and they still haven't completely grown back. They ARE there, just very pale and they don't have much shape. So, when I use an eyebrow pencil or eyebrow powder to fill them in and give them more definition and color, my face looks so much more awake and ready to go. (If you have full eyebrows that don't need to be filled in, obviously this doesn't apply to you. So don't worry about it!)

4. Mascara: Oh, mascara, how I love thee. A few coats of black or brown mascara and your eyes will look bigger and more awake. What more do I need to say? :)

5. Lips: When my lips are chapped and dry, I always look so tired! So what I do, is I exfoliate my lips and apply a healthy coat of lip balm, and sometimes a bit of nude or light-pink gloss. It doesn't take long, and really makes a difference.

Enjoy!

The many issue filled fashions of the movie "Labyrinth"...

So my friends and I had a movie night recently, at a friend's house. We watched "Labyrinth", with David Bowie in it? Yeah, that one. It also involved Camel-Nose, yeah, that's what I said. I would like to explain how this term came about, but first I have to show you a picture;
David Bowie's junk-y Camel-nose. Source
Best example of Camel-nose I can show you without having to use a picture of Adam Lambert? Yes, yes it is.  So why do I use this term. Well when David Bowie (who plays Jareth, the Goblin King) first shows up, Kieran and I had a first hand, up and close view of the aforementioned junk, and Kieran threw out with great gusto, "Look it's CAMEL-NOSE!". And it was very startling, so I asked what she meant by it, and she replied with an explanation of it's a man's version of Camel-Toe. So yeah, it's safe to say that we had an epic movie night, in fact I think we may have rewound the movie a couple of times to ahem, to put into the words of moi, "stare at David Bowie's junk". And really it got me thinking about some of the recent fashions that have come out. Pants have gone from tight, to tighter, to really-what-the-hell-tight. Kind of like the progression we see in Jareth's pants from the beginning of the movie to the trippy stair scene at the end.

If I am going to talk about Mr. Bowie's trousers I cannot forget the other bits of fashion we see in other parts of the movie.

Although her acting may have left a bit to be desired her shirt did not. After seeing this movie again, as a somewhat older person (I was six the last time I saw it), I am now on the hunt for a peasant blouse that is Sarah-esque. If you see one email us :)

One of the things I find interesting is that just to prove it's status as an eighties movie they include this;

The sleeves the glitter that almost literally engulfs Sarah, and the hair, oh the hair, what can I say?  I don't think I can actually say anything to be honest, so I think this post is over.... But just for laughs;

XOXO,
Shelly
