If any of you follow me on Twitter, you know that I've had a rather nasty cold for the last few days, and haven't had much energy to blog. However, I couldn't let this little nugget of info slip away! Hopefully you're familiar with Target's beauty bags-- a small makeup bag filled with samples, coupons, and a full-sized product or two, and completely free! --, because they have their Fall bag up for grabs on the website! Here's the link:

http://samples.target.com/

Scroll down to the beauty category and click on Fall Beauty Bag. All you have to do is fill out your information and answer a few survey questions, and then the bag will be on its way. It usually takes 8-10 weeks to arrive, so be patient! Sometimes I forget that I ordered one, so it's a nice surprise that shows up in the mail.

Make sure you act fast! These babies go QUICK!

So, my love-affair with e.l.f continues.

I've had my eye on this product for a while, and finally decided to just buy it already while out shopping at my local Target store. I have a hard time avoiding the e.l.f display whenever I'm there, so this purchase was inevitable Behold, the e.l.f High Definition Powder--

It is a bit pricier than the average e.l.f product, costing about $6 instead of the usual $1-3, but I still think it's a decent price for the amount and quality of product that you get. Each jar contains 8g of powder, and is available in three shades: Translucent, Shimmer, and Corrective Yellow. I purchased the original Translucent shade, and I think it's the only shade out of the three currently sold in Target stores. You can purchase Shimmer and Corrective Yellow on eyeslipsface.com.

The container itself is a matte black plastic jar with rounded corners, with the e.l.f logo and product name printed in simple white text on the lid. While the type of plastic is easily smudged by fingers, the jar feels sturdy and well-made. The lid is a basic twist-off device, and each jar comes with a plastic sifter inside to keep the product in place. It also comes with a powder puff, which I do actually like- It's soft and decently-sized. The only worry I have is that it seems like the puff will become dirty after a while, and there is no easy way to clean it, so I'll probably end up switching to a face brush.

So what about the actual powder? Does it work?

Yes! It had been a while since I last used a loose finishing powder, as most of my powders before this one had been pressed in compacts, so I felt a little bit skeptical about how the High Definition Powder would perform, but after using it exclusively for the last two weeks, I can happily say that it blew my expectations out of the water!

I used it after I applied foundation, but before any blush/bronzer. Since the powder is translucent, it blended wonderfully onto my skin whether I used the included powder puff or my own brush, and I didn't see any white discoloration on my skin. I would say that anyone with a very dark skin tone might have a bit more trouble blending it out fully, but my own skin is very light, so I can't give a yes-or-no answer for sure.

The packaging claims that the powder creates a "soft focus" effect on the skin, and I think I have to agree with that. It's strange, but the powder does kind of "soften" the look of my skin, and it is a surprisingly flattering look that I think would do wonders for anybody. The powder doesn't build up in my pores or any lines around my mouth or eyes, and it extends the wear of my foundation by at least two hours or more, depending on the weather. I put it to the test by wearing it over my foundation when I went to volunteer at a local animal shelter, and at the end of the day, my makeup was still intact after several hours of direct-sunlight-sweat and plenty of dog kisses.

My only gripe is that I wish there was more product in the jar, since it feels like it's not as filled as it could be, but overall I am very satisfied with this purchase and will most likely be purchasing another jar when this one runs out. Way to go, e.l.f!

As much as I hate to admit it, I have a lot of trouble throwing away makeup. That's not to say that I'm going to use that four-year-old, dried-up eyeliner in the bottom of my makeup bag, but for some reason I look at it and think, "I'm not throwing that out. Not yet." Or I'll hit pan on something and then feel like I have to stop using it before I use it all up. It makes no sense, I know, but that's just the way my brain has worked in these situations.

So, as you can probably guess, this cosmetic-hoarding of such has led to a rather messy and cluttered makeup bag and counter. I've decided it's time for a serious spring(fall) cleaning, so I've started Operation: Stash Trash. The goal is to go through my entire beauty stash(makeup, skincare, haircare) and trash anything that is old, outdated, empty, broken, or not used anymore. I will also be attempting to use up the last bits of products I've been sitting on for a while. Hopefully by the end of this project, I'll have a space that is much more organized and be able to tell what I need to replenish and what I have enough of without any old items getting in the way.

The goal is to bring Operation: Stash Trash to you in 1-3 parts, and I would love it if some of you would participate with me. They say it's easier to lose weight when you have friends to do it with, and I'm sure the same thing applies to clearing out our beloved stashes! So take the pledge to join the operation, and let me know in the comments, or even shoot me an email.

Let's do this!

With Halloween fast approaching and November practically breathing down my neck, I figured it's about time that I posted my monthly wishlist! It's been a little while since I did one of these, but the time is here once again! Without any further nonsense, here is my October wishlist!

1. Rebecca Minkoff Dameon Boots ($325, rebeccaminkoff.com)

I love brown boots in the fall, and I actually kind of dig these funky booties from Rebecca Minkoff. Of course, these babies would be a total splurge at a whopping $325, so sadly they will have to remain on my wishlist and not in my closet.

2. OPI Cuckoo For This Color Nail Polish

Looove this deep shimmer green color for any season, and I think it would look fabulous paired with a dark red or orange dress. Unfortunately, it appears to be either sold-out or discontinued, because I can't locate it anywhere online. Boo. :(

3. Merona Double-Breasted Classic Peacoat ($50, target.com)

I fell in love with this peacoat the moment I saw it on the Target website. The length is great and I'm a huge fan of double-breasted coats. This one also comes in so many colors! The dark orange color is Lava Orange, but I would totally buy it in Waterfront Blue and Wild Cherry!

4. Buckle Strap Riding Boots ($30, gojane.com)

Honestly, I would wear riding boots in the middle of summer if it weren't for the 100+ heat we get over here. Now that it's cooling down, I'm starting to crave these lovely boots. What's nice about riding boots is they never seem to go out of style. Every year I see plenty of women rocking these gorgeous pieces of footwear.

5. Be-weave Me Dress ($45, modcloth.com)

Oh, ModCloth, how I love you. This dress is so fun yet sophisticated I love the woven-texture on the bodice, and the flirty neckline. This shape dress is flattering on most body types, and who couldn't love that cream-and-cherries color?

What's on your October wishlist? Let me know!
The color I received is Buttery Nude, and while I'll admit the name is a bit funky, the actual color is very nice. This shade is apparently really difficult to accurately photograph since the above photo looks like the cream is pink, when in reality it's actually a terracotta/salmony shade that pulls a bit orange once applied. The consistency is exactly what you'd expect it to be-- very creamy with a medium-thick consistency. The applicator is a standard doe-foot applicator, and it picks up quite a bit of product. Almost too much, so I usually dab a little bit of it back into the bottle before I apply it.

The bottom swatch is pretty accurate in color, only Buttery Nude is a tinge more orange. The coverage of this Lip Cream is very full, so you only need one coat to achieve opacity. While there is no glitter or shimmer in the product, it does have a slightly "wet" look for a while after being applied. However, it's not a gloss. I would say it feels like a liquid lipstick. It stays a bit tacky once applied, but not overwhelmingly sticky. The scent is also nice-- it smells like unbaked cinnamon rolls, but doesn't have much of a taste. The color seems to last for about 3-4 hours before needing a touch-up, which I don't think is too bad.

Would I purchase this product on my own? Probably. I like the formula and the performance of the Lip Creme, and I'd love to try it in other shades. Thumbs up, NYX.

I realized a few days ago that I have been using the same foundation for a while now but haven't posted a review yet, so this post is a review of the Covergirl Clean Sensitive Skin foundation. I've got through several bottles of this, yet I still have mixed feelings on the actual product. Strange, I know, but it's hard for me to either love or hate foundation without trying it for a long period of time since my skin changes so often. Let's get into it!

The Clean line from Covergirl comes in three varieties: Normal, sensitive, and oil control. I chose the sensitive skin formula since that's exactly what I have. I do suffer from eczema, and unfortunately I have several patches of it on my face, most noticeably around my eyes and jawline. That's where the skin is most sensitive, and more than once I've purchased a foundation that irritated the skin or made it turn bright red. So far I've had no severe irritation while using the Clean foundation, so thumbs up in that aspect.
It is a liquid foundation, though the texture is a bit thicker than most liquids. Not thick enough, however, to really count as a cream makeup. It feels light when applied, which is refreshing and feels much better than wearing a heavy, thick foundation all day. It's also very easy to blend it into my skin, and I think would count as a medium-coverage foundation. I usually prefer full-coverage, but the texture of the Clean makeup is thick enough to cover any unevenness in my skin and hides the redness fairly well.

I've worn this foundation to many different types of events: from volunteering at a dog shelter in the summer, to attending casual family parties that last for several hours, and the Clean makeup holds up pretty well. It does sweat off in places after a while, but that's to be expected here in the Arizona heat. I think a bit of powder would definitely be enough to keep this makeup in place in cooler weather.

Cover Clean foundation is not my favorite foundation that I have used so far(that honor goes to Benefit's Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow foundation), but out of the various drugstore foundations I've had, this one definitely takes a top-spot.

I'm sure we all have that one product on our bathroom counters or perched on top of our vanities that almost seems like it doesn't belong. Generally these holy-grail products weren't originally designed to be beauty products, but we've taken them for our own anyway.

For me, that product is baby oil.

Surprising to some, not so surprising to others who know exactly what I'm talking about.

Baby oil is designed to be used on your baby's skin when they are fresh out of the bathtub, but many people have taken it upon themselves to find other uses for it that are just as helpful to the "older" generation. I've been using baby oil for a while now and I've been pleased to bits with it. I wanted to create a little list of five ways you can use baby oil to your advantage in the word of beauty and skincare, so let's dive in.

1. Do like the babies do:

You can use baby oil in the same way you'd use it on a baby! Apply a generous amount to wet skin when you step out of the shower, focusing on any rough parts of your body like elbows, knees, and feet. Just be careful when using this method-- make sure you aren't on a surface that the oil could drip onto and make slippery(or keep a towel under your feet during application!).

2. Remove your makeup:

Since baby oil is formulated to be gentle, it's safe to use around your eyes. Pour a little bit onto a clean cotton ball or pad, and gently wipe away your eye makeup. It does a great job of effectively removing your makeup without irritating the sensitive skin around your eyes. Wipe off any excess oil with a fresh cotton ball.

3. Moisturize daily:

Since baby oil works best on damp skin, I wanted to find a way to be able to use it in the middle of the day on any patches of dry skin that showed up, without having to take a shower first. The solution? Mix it with your regular body moisturizer/lotion. Pour an amount of lotion on your hand that is just slightly less than what you'd normally use, then add a few drops of baby oil into it and mix it between your hands before applying. The baby oil gives you lots of added moisture that's great for your skin, and also has a really pleasant scent.

4. Get rid of band-aid stick:

While this isn't so much a beauty use, I still consider it to be a skincare use. If you've ever removed a band-aid from your body, you know how annoying it can be to have that leftover adhesive stuck to your skin and hair, collecting dust and turning gray. Baby oil is a fantastic way to remove it without any painful scrubbing. Pour a generous amount of baby oil onto a cotton ball and begin gently wiping it across the adhesive. After a moment, all of the adhesive should be gone, and any little bits that got left behind can be easily pulled off of your skin without any pain.

5. Take care of your cuticles:

After giving yourself a manicure, or even as an everyday use, you can use baby oil to moisturize your cuticles to keep them healthy and prevent splitting. Dab a cotton swab into the baby oil and gently apply it to your cuticles. Give it time to soak in, then repeat the process once more if you feel like your cuticles are still too dry. I've been doing this for a few weeks and my cuticles are in much better shape now!

All in all, baby oil is a great multi-use, affordable product. For only a few bucks, you can get a bottle that will last and last for a long time. Let me know in the comments what beauty uses you have for baby oil! I'd love to hear from you.

Today I have a review of Bellepierre Shimmer Powders, which I finally caved and purchased from a stand in my local mall a little while ago. They were on sale, but I still considered it a splurge. I had been eyeing the vast array of colors for some time, and I couldn't resist for any longer!

Shimmer Powders are essentially loose mineral eyeshadows, and Bellapierre sells them in a variety of colors, ranging from electric blue(Ha Ha) to smokey black(Noir). The shades I purchased are Jadoo, which is a dark brick red with subtle copper undertones, and Deja Vous, which is a fair champagne color with hints of baby pink. As the product name suggests, the colors are shimmery, but blend to a very wearable satin finish. Thankfully, there are no chunks of glitter to be found in either color I bought, and it seemed that most(if not all) of the Shimmer Powders were glitter free when looking at them in person.

After wearing both shades several times for differing periods of time, I can say that overall I feel satisfied with the purchase. Jadoo applies evenly and is very pigmented, so not much product is needed per application. Deja Vous seems a bit streakier to me, and I need to apply a second thin layer to make sure no skin shows through the color. However, it is a lovely shade once applied, and stays on very well. I'd say after about 5-6 hours, the Shimmer Powders do seem to show a bit of wear, but no thick creasing until 7-8 hours, which seems to be standard time for most mineral shadows.

I had no trouble at all blending the colors, and they seem to work very nicely together. I've been wearing them together with some chocolate brown shadow and eyeliner as a deep red smokey eye, and it is surprisingly wearable. I don't own many shadows in the red range, but Jadoo is very pleasing, and I think would look gorgeous on most skin tones.

The only complaint I have is the price. You get 2.35g of product for roughly $15, which is what you'd pay for most high-end eyeshadows. I really wish these were more in the $8-10 range, which seems for fitting for the quality. If the Shimmer Powders were cheaper, I would definitely purchase a few more, but I feel like $15 is a bit much for these. However, as I said, I feel overall pretty happy with my purchase, and I will continue to use my Shimmer Powders until they are used up!

Just a little life update for you all!

Shelly is currently away at college out-of-state, so it will be just me running the blog for a while! Of course, Shelly is always welcome to pop in whenever she feels like it to write up a post. I miss that girl already!

Alright, raise your hand if you keep a makeup bag in your purse. Now raise the other one if you remember the last time you organized it.

Not a whole lot of second hands just went up, did they?

But no worries! There's no shame in forgetting to go through that little travel makeup bag you keep stashed away in your purse. Or, maybe you are like how I used to be and (Gasp!) keep a handful of products roaming around loose in the bottom of your bag. Yes, yes, we've all had our dark days, but we're all here today to improve our on-the-go makeup styles. It might seem silly, but having a well-organized, well thought-out makeup bag can make all the difference in both your style and your sanity.

Trust me.

Before we get started, I'd just like to remind you that everyone has different taste and needs when it comes to makeup and skincare, so each person's individual travel bag might require some tweaking to get it just right. This 101 guide is just that-- a guide. Take from it what is useful to you and leave behind what is not.

Now, onto the learning!

What is on-the-go makeup?

Exactly what it sounds like! It can be either the makeup you want to carry with you in your bag at all times, or the collection of items that you can just grab-and-go whenever you travel- whether that means spending the night at a girlfriend's house or a last-minute road-trip to another state. We're looking for convenience, practicality, and a little bit of fun.

Where do I start?

The bag. Please, please keep your cosmetics inside of a cosmetic bag. Having them roll around loose in your purse is both messy and unsanitary.

If you're looking for something to keep in your purse, you might want a bag that's a little bit smaller and just big enough to hold a few essential items(which we'll cover later). On the other side, if it's a bag you want to travel with, go with something a bit bigger so that you can hold the essentials plus some extra goodies.

Here are three common makeup bag sizes:

The Pencil Case:
Obviously not a real pencil case(thought I suppose you could use it as one), this style of bag is usually the smallest available. It is a long bag with a zippered top, which is especially useful if you want to carry a makeup brush or a pencil cosmetic, like eyeliner. The pencil case bag is great for tucking away in your purse as an every-day travel bag. (I have one just like this in my own purse!)

The Standard:
While there really is no "official" name for this type of makeup bag, it is what I consider to be the standard size. A great in-between bag that is big enough to hold several items, but not so large that you can't fit it in your purse. This size makes a great travel bag to take with you on trips, but you can also use it as your every-day bag if you wish to have more items available to you.

The Weekender:
As the name suggests, this bag is designed for weekend trips. To Vegas, your friend's house a couple blocks over, wherever you please. The size is obviously not for stashing this bag in your purse(unless you have a really big purse, I guess), but for carrying an assortment of cosmetics, along with some skincare/haircare items. If you have a larger beauty regimen, this size bag would be perfect for you as your travel bag that you can just grab-and-go with.

What goes in the bag?

This the part where things can get a little bit tricky, since there are so many variations of travel bags. Are you going out at night? During the day? Do you wear eye makeup? Foundation?

So in order to cover as much ground as I can, I will be dividing this section into a few sub-categories. Feel free to skip over to whatever category fits you the best.

The Essentials:

These are items that I think can easily fit into any bag and any makeup routine, and are considered to be the "important" items.

1. Pressed Powder

Pressed powder is a great product to keep with you throughout the day. Use it to touch up your foundation, or gently blot it under your eyes to help ensure that your eye makeup stays in place. Bonus: It usually comes in a compact with a mirror to make touch-ups easy.

Covergirl Smoothers Pressed Powder

2. Neutral-Colored Eyeliner

I always try to have either a dark brown or medium brown eyeliner in my bag. Aside from the obvious use of touching up the eyeliner around your eyes, it can also be useful for filling in any thin patches in your eyebrows or adding a bit of definition to them throughout the day.

e.l.f Studio Eyeshadow "C" Brush

3. "C" Eyeshadow Brush

If you wear eye makeup, this can be an incredibly useful tool to keep with you. I use mine to blend out any creases that may have developed in my eyeshadow, and to just generally clean up any imperfections. I would recommend the e.l.f version of this brush because it is a pleasant mixture of soft and stiff bristles, so you can apply eyeshadow and also use it to do a bit of blending. (It's also very affordable!)

4. Lip Balm

This is something I think everyone should keep with them, even if they don't keep a makeup bag. There's nothing worse than getting a case of severely-chapped lips in the middle of the day with nothing to help soothe them. For this item, you can go as fancy or as simple as you like. On the higher end of things, I like the Buxom Big & Healthy Lip Balms($10, Sephora.com), but you can never go wrong with a simple classic: Carmex Original Lip Balm(1.69, Walgreens.com).

NYX Sheer Tube Gloss

5. Neutral or Light Pink Lip Gloss

You can really polish off a look with a bit of lip gloss. Keeping a small tube of a lightly colored gloss inside your travel bag gives you a way to refresh your look throughout a busy day. Keep the color neutral or light pink-- a shade that can easily work with whatever makeup look you wear.

6. Skin Tone Matte Eyeshadow

This one might seem a bit strange, but having a matte eyeshadow that is close to your own skin color can be very handy. In the event that your eye makeup gets to be a little bit past repair, you can wipe it off and then simply swipe a layer of the matte eyeshadow over the whole eyelid, smudge a bit of that eyeliner we listed earlier, and you instantly have a polished look. This exact method has gotten me out of some nightmareish makeup situations before.

7. Makeup Remover Swabs

These are brilliant little tools to have with you. They look like regular cotton swabs, but each one is filled with gentle makeup remover. Simple bend the stick and the remover fills the end of the swab. They make last-minute cleanup very simple, and will prove to be super useful in a pinch.

bareMinerals "On the Spot" Makeup Remover Swabs-- $5, Nordstrom.com

Night Out Essentials:

These are the items to add to your bag if you frequently go out at night. On a date or out dancing-- these items will make great additions to keep you looking fantastic all night.

1. Oil-blotting Sheets

These will come in handy if you like to go out partying or dancing at night. They come in small packages that are easy to carry in a small bag, and you simply dab them on any spots that get a little sweaty or oily during the night. The nice thing about these is that many brands make sheets that don't do any damage to your makeup when you use them, like the Essential Shine Eraser sheets from e.l.f($1, eyeslipsface.com).

e.l.f Matte Lip Color

2. Matte Lip Color

A matte lip color is a great product for touching up in the evening. The reason I recommend a matte color instead of a shimmery color is because it works with any makeup look, whether you're wearing dark smokey eyes or a subtle shadow. The shade is up to you, but I would suggest sticking with something that isn't too bright or too dark. A warm shade of peach or light pink is a good option.

Neutrogena SkinClearing Blemish Concealer

3. Concealer

Having a bit of extra coverage is always a good thing when you're out for the night. Keep any redness or blemishes at bay with a small layer of concealer topped with your pressed powder.

Fun Extras:

These are things that are not necessarily essential to keep with you, but can come in handy and are just fun little extras to add to your bag.

1. Perfume in a Vial

The kind of vial I'm talking about is the kind you can get as a sample with most beauty website orders, and if you go into a shop like Sephora, you can ask for a sample of most perfumes they have in stock. The sample will come in a small vial that is perfect for adding to your makeup bag for a bit of freshness.

e.l.f Studio Glossy Gloss

2. Bright Lip Gloss

For a fun pop of color during the day, you can add a tube of brightly colored gloss. A sheer hot pink or deep plum are great options to keep with you.

3. Mascara

Not an essential item to keep with you, but nice to have around in case you feel like re-applying as the day goes on. Just make sure that you don't pack on unnecessary layers, or you'll end up with clumpy lashes-- never a good look!

Ending Thoughts?

Once you have all of your travel makeup picked out, spend a little bit of time finding the best way to organize it in your makeup bag. You can just toss everything in, or you can work out if you want eyeliner to go on top of the pile or on bottom, or maybe you want a multi-zippered pouch so you can separate things by color. Whatever floats your boat and works for you. Remember, the idea of an on-the-go makeup bag is that it can be convenient for you, so touching up your makeup isn't a hassle. After all, makeup should be a fun, not a bore!

Let me know in the comments what you keep in your makeup bag, or if you have any questions for me about makeup on-the-go. Also, let me know if you'd like me to elaborate on traveling with makeup in a future post. I love hearing from you!
I am so excited to share it with you all! This is the look I do when I want something simple, but fun, and different.

Okay let's get into it!

So first I applied my foundation and setting powder. I used to use Stila Natural Finish oil free makeup, but it's so expensive! It works great though, if you can afford it, I definitely recommend it. I was also using Airspun as a setting powder, but I felt like it made my face look a bit chalky. When I ran out of both I got (the only drug store makeup I'm not allergic to, pretty much) Almay tlc truly lasting color, 16 hour makeup in Naked 03 160, and Almay Clear Complexion powder in Light 100. I also use Almay Concealer in Light 100. They all work really well, and turned out to be good replacements for my loved Stila foundation.

I then primed my lids with Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Eden.

Make sure that when you apply your primer you rub it in REALLY well, otherwise it does exactly what it's supposed to stop, and no one wants unsightly creases on their lids. Also make sure that you rub it all around your eye, don't neglect your lower lash line.

Then I took Midnight Cowboy Rides Again by Urban Decay and covered my whole eye, up to the brow bone. I also lined my lower lash line, and smudged it down a little. The pictures I took of just that color on my eyes sucked, a lot. So you can just figure it out without a picture. Sorry.

Then I used MAC Naked Lunch on my lid. Again the color is a little too light for my suckish camera to catch.
Next up I used MAC Woodwinked, on my crease:

I applied it with a very heavy hand . It does not have to look good at this point. Put it on to almost the inner corner of you eye.

Then you are going to blend it up and out, a bit. Just blend until it looks good to you.

I then lined just the outer corner, very close to the lid with black liquid liner. I used Femme Couture, you can buy it at Sally's.

I used a lot of mascara, as is my custom. For me it's all about the lashes! I love me so big lashes. Other than Aerie brand mascara (which is the best) Maybelline's Great Lash, is well, great. It's super cheap too, and now that they've taken all the yucky ingredients out, I think it's excellent.

Here's the finished look on the eyes:

Once I finished my eyes I applied Aerie blush in Primrose (there's a link to a review I really liked), on the apples of my cheeks.

Then my lips got a dose of Rimmel London Pink Blush

And here is the final product!

Hey lovelies!

Recently, I was asked to participate in a beauty-blogger program by Crystal Light, called the Flavor over Fizz Challenge, in which I was, as the name suggests, challenged to chose the delicious flavor of Crystal Light over the sugary fizz fizz of my regular soda.

So, Crystal Light sent me a beautifully packaged assortment of different Crystal Light packets to try out. At first I doubted my ability to completely ditch soda for Crystal Light, but I vowed to replace all soda with Crystal Light for at least three days in a row, and I succeeded!

Enjoying my favorite flavor, Lemon Iced Tea, on a hot summer afternoon.

Did you know: Each packet of Crystal Light only has 5 calories?

Let's talk about some flavors:

Peach Iced Tea: This is a really interesting flavor, the peach aspect can be a bit overwhelming, but still very tasty!

Raspberry Green Tea: This is a truly unique flavor, as most raspberry teas are always made with black tea, so the green tea is a nice change. I usually mix this flavor up in a bottle of cold water, and then pour half of it into a glass along with a little extra water, since it's very strong.

Fruit Punch: Oh man! This stuff is FUN! The flavor is very fruity and youthful(if that makes sense, haha), and it's VERY, VERY red!

These aren't the only flavors, but I thought I'd just give you a little taste(no pun intended) of the flavors available.

And while I don't think I'll be kicking my soda habit anytime soon, I'll definitely be replacing some with Crystal Light!

Have YOU taken the Flavor over Fizz challenge?

xo,

As you know, the reason Shelly and I have been really getting behind on posts is because we're so busy. I really hate that my schedule has taken away from this blog, but I'm trying hard to keep posting whenever I can.

(In fact, I'm actually typing this on Wednesday morning, since tomorrow morning I will be going into work at a local animal shelter, so I will be very busy and very tired. :P)

I apologize for my lack of posts, I've been away house-sitting for a friend of mine and I haven't had enough time to blog.

Today I had to paint my face to look like a cat(stop laughing), and so I figured I'd post about the eye makeup of the look. The color scheme of my cat face was simple; black, white and brown, so I did a very simple taupe-and-brown eye look with, of course, cat-style winged-out eyeliner.

But of course, being the unorganized girl that I am, I only took one close-up shot of the eye makeup, and the rest are cropped from full-face photos. So this is a "sort-of" EOTD. Heh. :)

I just replied to a question one of my lovely readers, Maya, sent me via email, and I started thinking of all of the questions I've been asked before. After debating with myself for a little while, I decided to compile some of the questions I get asked the most into one blog post.

Hopefully this will be helpful to some of you, but this is by no means a way of saying "stop emailing me!" Don't hesitate to Tweet, email, or comment with your questions. :)

Q. 1: Where can I buy Aerie Color/Aerie Botanicals?

So many people have asked me this question recently, and it's no wonder because pretty much everything Aerie makes has been amazing. The answer to this question is that as far as Shelly and I know, both Aerie Color and Aerie Botanicals have been discontinued. I would say you could still stop by your local Aerie store on the off-chance that they might still sell some of the items, or might still be clearing them out, but it's been a while since I last saw any Color/Botanicals stuff in the store. You could also try eBay, but the chances might be slim. I think all we can do now is pray that Aerie decided to bring them back!

Q. 2: What is a good water-proof mascara?

Shelly answered this question a while back, and she suggested either Aerie Vast Lash Mascara, which is now obviously discontinued, so she also suggested Ulta Brand Amped Lashes Mascara in the Water-proof formula. I agree with her, and I also really love the Rimmel Sexy Curves Water-proof mascara.

Q. 3: I have really dry skin, what is a good, non-drying foundation?

As a girl who also suffers from extremely dry skin, I'm sad to say I haven't found the perfect non-drying foundation yet, but the one I use currently that has been very nice is Covergirl Clean Makeup in the Sensitive Skin formula.

Q. 4: A recommendation for shampoo/conditioner for dry, hard-to-manage hair?

Pantene Solutions for Medium-Thick hair! I can't recommend this brand enough. My hair was impossible to work with before I tried this shampoo and conditioner, but now that I've been using it for quite some time, my hair has drastically improved! I switch between the Dry-to-Moisturized formula and the Breakage-to-Strength formula.

Q. 5: What are your favorite makeup brushes?

I really love the E.L.F brushes. While they're not the number 1 best in the market, they are affordable and soft and work wonderfully! I especially love the eyeshadow brushes and total face brushes.

Q. 6: What are some stores that sell shoes for big-footed ladies?

I love this question, especially since one of the ladies that asked this question phrased it exactly like that! I can sympathize with you, since I generally wear a size 11 in Women's(I know, I know) and it's hard to find stores that carry anything larger than a 10. Some stores that carry larger sizes are Torrid(they carry up to a size 13!), Charlotte Russe(they recently started carrying 11's.), and I also have been able to find larger sizes in Target and Walmart.

Q. 7: What eyeshadow primer do you use?
This is going to sound crazy, but for the longest time I never used an eyeshadow primer, simply because I never really thought I needed one. A few months ago, I bought an eyeshadow palette from Urban Decay and it came with a mini-version of their classic Urban Decay Primer Potion, and now I love it! The full size is pretty pricey, so I think I'm going to look for a cheaper alternative. I also know that Shelly loves the UDPP in the Eden Formula.

Yesterday was a good day for nail polish at Walgreens, I went there to pick up a few things, and ended up with five bottles of the stuff. All Sinful Colors nail polishes are currently on sale for .99 cents, and then I stumbled on a sale display of Del-Sol nail polish, which are the color-changing ones, and they were 2/$3! I think they are usually 2/$11 or something close to that. Aaaand, Wet 'n Wild nail polishes are running on a special of only .69 cents a bottle(the same goes for the pencil eyeliners and lipsticks). So I ended up buying five bottles of nail polishes for a little over $6. Not bad!

The creamy shade in this Revlon quad is probably my favorite highlight shade! The label also rubbed off on this one, but I'm pretty sure the color is called Firecracker. The other two shades in this trio, a bright pink and lime green, are pretty terrible, sadly. They aren't very pigmented, and just don't show up, even on my super-pale skin. However, the last shade, which is a slightly off-white color, also works pretty nicely for a highlight shade. Okay, clearly the powder side of this kit is all gone- but not really! It conveniently fell from my hands and broke only minutes before I took this picture.

I know I've been neglecting you guys lately and I apologize for that, I've just been really busy and my brain has been a bit scattered the past week! I promise I haven't forgotten you, though!

Today I'm trying a new kind of post, it will be brought to you in 2-3 separate posts, and the topic will be my favorite shades. Shades of eyeshadow, lipstick, blush... you get the idea. I'm just trying this out, so if this post is a total failure, then this "series" will be canceled. :P I've decided the first post will be on my favorite purple eyeshadow shades. I love purple eyeshadow because it can be daring or wearable, and it compliments green eyes, as well as just being a beautiful color! I picked out my four favorite purple eyeshadows to talk about in this post.

Have a look:

(Left to Right: Purple shade from Ulta's Cool Eyeshadow Quad, Orglamix Bordeaux, purple shade from Maybelline's ExpertWear Eyeshadow palette in Hushed Tints, Urban Decay Flash.)

Okay, I'm pretty close to just tossing my camera out of the window... it's horrible with swatch pictures! I assure you that all of these purples are much more vibrant in real life, and the Orglamix shade isn't so brown, it's more of a deep, wine purple.

This is the Ulta shadow. As you can see, it's been very well used so far. I love this one for purple smoky-eyes that are still wearable for the daytime.

This is probably one of my favorite loose mineral eyeshadows. It has nice, workable color that also makes great dark purple eyeliner when applied wet with an angled brush.

Urban Decay Flash- my new love! Super bright, satiny purple with teeny flecks of pink(glitter). Great for fun, summery looks!
(I have this shade in the Show Pony Shadow Box- expect a review on that soon!)

This purple is from a Maybelline ExpertWear eyeshadow palette called Hushed Tints. It is a very subtle color with soft pigmentation, so it's a perfect building color, and I like to use it to blend other purple shades together.

So yes! There you have it. What are your favorite purple eyeshadows? Or is there another color you like the most?

A while back, Shelly did a makeup tag, and I really wanted to have a go at it myself, so I'm finally doing it! It's sort of a "this or that" tag, which I think are supah-fun. Heheh!

This post is probably going to be a bit random, as it's not necessarily about any Misikko product in particular, but the way they shipped them to me. ;)

I recently won a little contest from Misikko, and when the package arrived... I was very impressed. I can't say enough how much I LOVE it when companies take the time to really put a package together nicely before they send it out. Take a looksie!
Boring ol' cardboard box, right?

Well, open it up and you'll find...

(To be fair, everything inside was a little more neatly packed than what you see here... I had to rearrange it all after I ripped into it. xD)

I was only expecting the three products I had won, so seeing all of this was a lovely surprise. I actually won a flat-iron from Misikko on another beauty blog quite a while ago, and the package was also incredibly sweet and well thought-out, much like this one.

I was cleaning my closet today, and I just kind of stopped and looked at my shoes. I don't have very many pairs, but out of the ones I do have, they're all very different. My taste in shoes ranges from beat-up Chuck Taylors to 6-inch purple heels. I like that about myself, heheh!

So while I was trying to come up with some post ideas, I decided to do one related more to fashion than makeup, since I post about makeup quite often, and shoes seemed perfect!

So here is a list of some of the shoes I've been lusting after lately. :)
