Bellapierre Shimmer Powder Review || Jadoo & Deja Vous

Today I have a review of Bellepierre Shimmer Powders, which I finally caved and purchased from a stand in my local mall a little while ago. They were on sale, but I still considered it a splurge. I had been eyeing the vast array of colors for some time, and I couldn't resist for any longer!

Shimmer Powders are essentially loose mineral eyeshadows, and Bellapierre sells them in a variety of colors, ranging from electric blue(Ha Ha) to smokey black(Noir). The shades I purchased are Jadoo, which is a dark brick red with subtle copper undertones, and Deja Vous, which is a fair champagne color with hints of baby pink. As the product name suggests, the colors are shimmery, but blend to a very wearable satin finish. Thankfully, there are no chunks of glitter to be found in either color I bought, and it seemed that most(if not all) of the Shimmer Powders were glitter free when looking at them in person.

After wearing both shades several times for differing periods of time, I can say that overall I feel satisfied with the purchase. Jadoo applies evenly and is very pigmented, so not much product is needed per application. Deja Vous seems a bit streakier to me, and I need to apply a second thin layer to make sure no skin shows through the color. However, it is a lovely shade once applied, and stays on very well. I'd say after about 5-6 hours, the Shimmer Powders do seem to show a bit of wear, but no thick creasing until 7-8 hours, which seems to be standard time for most mineral shadows.

I had no trouble at all blending the colors, and they seem to work very nicely together. I've been wearing them together with some chocolate brown shadow and eyeliner as a deep red smokey eye, and it is surprisingly wearable. I don't own many shadows in the red range, but Jadoo is very pleasing, and I think would look gorgeous on most skin tones.

The only complaint I have is the price. You get 2.35g of product for roughly $15, which is what you'd pay for most high-end eyeshadows. I really wish these were more in the $8-10 range, which seems for fitting for the quality. If the Shimmer Powders were cheaper, I would definitely purchase a few more, but I feel like $15 is a bit much for these. However, as I said, I feel overall pretty happy with my purchase, and I will continue to use my Shimmer Powders until they are used up!

EOTD: Switch it Up!

Hello lovelies, 

While I was doing my makeup today, I realized I have been doing the exact same look for the past week: a brown, neutral eye. Soooo I decided to just switch it up and go for some purple. I guess I've been doing really simple look lately just because I've been in a rush most mornings. 

I did a purple and gold smokey-ish look. I've done purple and gold, but not these exact shades before. I'm really happy with how it turned out.

(Please excuse the horrid lines/bags under my eyes- I haven't been sleeping well as of late and I think it's starting to show! Yikes!)

Favorite Shades: Part 1

Hello lovelies!


I know I've been neglecting you guys lately and I apologize for that, I've just been really busy and my brain has been a bit scattered the past week! I promise I haven't forgotten you, though!

Today I'm trying a new kind of post, it will be brought to you in 2-3 separate posts, and the topic will be my favorite shades. Shades of eyeshadow, lipstick, blush... you get the idea. I'm just trying this out, so if this post is a total failure, then this "series" will be canceled. :P I've decided the first post will be on my favorite purple eyeshadow shades. I love purple eyeshadow because it can be daring or wearable, and it compliments green eyes, as well as just being a beautiful color! I picked out my four favorite purple eyeshadows to talk about in this post.

Okay, I'm pretty close to just tossing my camera out of the window... it's horrible with swatch pictures! I assure you that all of these purples are much more vibrant in real life, and the Orglamix shade isn't so brown, it's more of a deep, wine purple. 

This is the Ulta shadow. As you can see, it's been very well used so far. I love this one for purple smoky-eyes that are still wearable for the daytime.

This is probably one of my favorite loose mineral eyeshadows. It has nice, workable color that also makes great dark purple eyeliner when applied wet with an angled brush.

Urban Decay Flash- my new love! Super bright, satiny purple with teeny flecks of pink(glitter). Great for fun, summery looks!
(I have this shade in the Show Pony Shadow Box- expect a review on that soon!) 

This purple is from a Maybelline ExpertWear eyeshadow palette called Hushed Tints. It is a very subtle color with soft pigmentation, so it's a perfect building color, and I like to use it to blend other purple shades together.

Review: e.l.f 32 Piece Eyeshadow Collection

Today I bring you a review of the e.l.f 32 Piece Eyeshadow Collection, which was given to me as a Christmas gift from my wonderful blogging partner, Shelly.

I have been hoping to find the e.l.f Shadow Collections in Target, but I haven't seen any, so when Shelly surprised me with the 32 Piece, I was very excited!

(I forgot to take a picture of the entire front of the palette, sorry! But as the above picture shows, it is matte black with a clear window to the shadows.)

You get a pretty wide variety of shadows in this palette, from a basic, low-shimmer black and chocolate brown, to a bright, shiny electric blue and bubblegum pink! The texture of the shadows are also very nice and smooth, easy to apply. There might be one or two that are a bit chalky, but definitely not hard to work with. I think that with this palette, e.l.f has definitely improve the quality/texture of their palettes. I own the Eye Brights Beauty Book, and was pretty bummed at the texture of the shadows. This palette makes up for it!

From the shadows that I've used out of it so far, the staying power is pretty fair. As with most shadows, they would probably last longer over a primer, but without, I'm pretty impressed.

All of the shadows contain some sort of shimmer/glitter. There are no true mattes. However, there are a few shades that have very minimal shimmer/glitter. But if you want a palette with matte shadows, then this wouldn't be for you. 

Here are a few swatches from the palette, over just my skin with no primer:

(My camera takes pretty horrible swatch pictures. The shade that looks like a charcoal brown is actually a very dark, steel grey.)

I am in love with this palette, pretty much. I also love that it has a very big mirror on the inside, so that I can actually use that to do my eye makeup instead of having to hold a separate mirror.

Between the color variety, the quality of the shadows, and the price, I don't think you can go wrong with this palette.

Galactic Realm

Hello lovelies!

Lately I've been playing around with a fun eyeshadow quad from Wet n Wild; the i-Sparkle eyeshadow in Galactic Realm.

Okay, so aside from the fact that this quad is ADORABLE(hello cute flower design!), the shadows are really nice, too. You get four colors: A royal purple, medium-gray, rich black, and shimmery white. The white shadow can be a bit chalky, but it's totally workable. I'm not going to go into too much detail here, since this isn't my "official" review.

Copper Cat-Eyes: Tutorial

Hello fellow Escapaders! Kieran here with my ver first makeup tutorial! This is a look I came up with a little while ago, inspired by the metallic colors that I have been seeing so much of, and a different take on the classic Cat-Eye. It's fairly simple and I hope you like it!

What you will need to achieve this look is:

MAKEUP:
-Black eyeliner pencil
-Gold creme eyeshadow
-Light-yellow powder eyeshadow
-Black Mascara

TOOLS:
-Eyeshadow brush
-Eyelash curler


STEP ONE:
Take the gold creme shadow on your brush and cover your entire eyelid in slow, steady strokes. You can extend this shadow to the inner corner of your eye, like I did.
**TIP** Make sure the creme shadow is not too dark; a lighter gold or copper color works best.

STEP TWO:

Apply a light amount of the yellow eyeshadow over the creme shadow. Blend this into your crease and down to the corners of your eyes.

**TIP** Again, this eyeshadow should be fairly light. The yellow should enhance the gold- not hide it.

STEP THREE:

Rim your entire bottom lid with black eyeliner, and extend the inner line further so that it reaches towards the bridge of your nose. Not too far, though! This should create the illusion of longer, cat-like eys.

**TIP** Don't line your upper lid, but do blend the eyeliner up to your lash line.

STEP FOUR:
Curl your eyelashes and apply your mascara, I highly reccomend Rimmel London's Sexy Curves mascara in Blackest Black for this. The goal is super long, sexy lashes on the top.

**NOTE** I am not wearing Sexy Curves in this picture, I took these before I purchased Sexy Curves mascara. I am using  one coat of L'Oreal Voluminous mascara in this picture.

Now you are all finished! I love to wear this eye makeup when I go to parties, or even sometimes during the day for a change of pace!

TUTORIAL!!!

Shel here, and all I can say is WOW Kieran, hurray, hurray! Okay so if you are anything like me you are a very DIY type person, and always on the lookout for cheaper alternatives to everything, especially when it comes to fashion, makeup and beauty. Therefore you have probably experimented with the makeup and things you already have, trying to make them more fantastic. If this sounds at all like you, even just a little bit, well have I got a treat for you!

This is is called Medusa cream eyeshadow, and I have figured out how to make something similar! Except mine has a bluish color to it and is lighter. Making it is simple it is pretty much just a blending project. It can be any color you choose, but grey does come out well! You will need:

Some sort of lightly colored cream eyeshadow, it can be a cheapy brand from the dollar store or somewhere similar, I used Loreal Paris's Aqua Proof cream eyeshadow in Gallant Gold.

Next you will need your choice of color eyeliners, I used Maybelline's Cool Effect eyeliner/eyeshadow in Midnight Chill #22, and Blizzard Brown #28, I also used Rimmel London's Kohl Eye pencil in Jungle Green #031, and Urban Decay's 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil in Electric. You will also need a pigment eyeshadow, I used Bella Pierre Cosmetics in Whesek. The next part is easy, just take all of your products and blend until you get the color and consistancy you like, but remember do not add the pigment until last!

And that's it! Now go be a makeup artist!
