Tanning?

I may just be one of the palest people, you may ever see. I guess that's my opinion, but I reserve the right to think I am super white. I went as a vampire for Halloween and didn't even have to wear white grease paint. Because of this, I thought "hey I'll give tanning a try." then I was all, "No you WON'T tanning is bad for you!". So I looked into spray tanning, and boy, let me tell you, that junk is expensive. It's on average about $30, and you have to go in every ten days, at least, or it will fade and you are back to pasty hell. Um, no thank you. So I started researching tanning beds, tanning laws, and skin cancer correlation. What I read is actually a little surprising. Since I'm not a doctor, and I'll phrase everything wrong, I am just going to give you this link.Go here. This is not the only website I found, but it is the best one I found. Now go educate yourself, on why everything should be done in moderation.

Now why is this all relevant? Because, I went to the tanning bed today. The place I went had knowledgeable staff, is very sanitary, and smelled really amazing. My plan is to build up a base tan, which takes about six to ten sessions. Then I will maintain it, by going every other week , or even once a week. We'll see. I just wanted to share a slice of my adventure with all of you pretty ladies.

Just stopping in to let y'all know we haven't for gotten you guys. I've been working a lot lately, so I dunno, I just haven't had time to really rough out a good post. I have lot's of ideas and half written posts, that I will have time to finish sometime this month. Yay to that, sista! I have a couple hauls I just have to finish writing, for sure. We are stocking up on a large amount of excellent to unleash upon you in enormous amounts I know Kieran is up to something, so keep a look out! :)

This is my first makeup tutorial! I am so excited to share it with you all! This is the look I do when I want something simple, but fun, and different. I actually did this because I had to for a challenge on my other blog 150adventures.wordpress.com.

Okay let's get into it!

So first I applied my foundation and setting powder. I used to use Stila Natural Finish oil free makeup, but it's so expensive! It works great though, if you can afford it, I definitely recommend it. I was also using Airspun as a setting powder, but I felt like it made my face look a bit chalky. When I ran out of both I got (the only drug store makeup I'm not allergic to, pretty much) Almay tlc truly lasting color, 16 hour makeup in Naked 03 160, and Almay Clear Complexion powder in Light 100. I also use Almay Concealer in Light 100. They all work really well, and turned out to be good replacements for my loved Stila foundation.

I then primed my lids with Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Eden.

Make sure that when you apply your primer you rub it in REALLY well, otherwise it does exactly what it's supposed to stop, and no one wants unsightly creases on their lids. Also make sure that you rub it all around your eye, don't neglect your lower lash line.

Then I took Midnight Cowboy Rides Again by Urban Decay and covered my whole eye, up to the brow bone. I also lined my lower lash line, and smudged it down a little. The pictures I took of just that color on my eyes sucked, a lot. So you can just figure it out without a picture. Sorry.

Then I used MAC Naked Lunch on my lid. Again the color is a little too light for my suckish camera to catch.
Next up I used MAC Woodwinked, on my crease:

I applied it with a very heavy hand . It does not have to look good at this point. Put it on to almost the inner corner of you eye.

Then you are going to blend it up and out, a bit. Just blend until it looks good to you.

I then lined just the outer corner, very close to the lid with black liquid liner. I used Femme Couture, you can buy it at Sally's.

I used a lot of mascara, as is my custom. For me it's all about the lashes! I love me so big lashes. Other than Aerie brand mascara (which is the best) Maybelline's Great Lash, is well, great. It's super cheap too, and now that they've taken all the yucky ingredients out, I think it's excellent.

Here's the finished look on the eyes:

Once I finished my eyes I applied Aerie blush in Primrose (there's a link to a review I really liked), on the apples of my cheeks.

Then my lips got a dose of Rimmel London Pink Blush

And here is the final product!

Crystal Light: Take the Flavor over Fizz Challenge!

Hey lovelies!

Recently, I was asked to participate in a beauty-blogger program by Crystal Light, called the Flavor over Fizz Challenge, in which I was, as the name suggests, challenged to chose the delicious flavor of Crystal Light over the sugary fizz fizz of my regular soda.

So, Crystal Light sent me a beautifully packaged assortment of different Crystal Light packets to try out. At first I doubted my ability to completely ditch soda for Crystal Light, but I vowed to replace all soda with Crystal Light for at least three days in a row, and I succeeded!

Did you know: Each packet of Crystal Light only has 5 calories?

Let's talk about some flavors:

Peach Iced Tea: This is a really interesting flavor, the peach aspect can be a bit overwhelming, but still very tasty!

Raspberry Green Tea: This is a truly unique flavor, as most raspberry teas are always made with black tea, so the green tea is a nice change. I usually mix this flavor up in a bottle of cold water, and then pour half of it into a glass along with a little extra water, since it's very strong.

Fruit Punch: Oh man! This stuff is FUN! The flavor is very fruity and youthful(if that makes sense, haha), and it's VERY, VERY red!

These aren't the only flavors, but I thought I'd just give you a little taste(no pun intended) of the flavors available.

And while I don't think I'll be kicking my soda habit anytime soon, I'll definitely be replacing some with Crystal Light!

Wishful Thinking Thursday: Shoes and Smoothies Edition

Hello lovelies!

As you know, the reason Shelly and I have been really getting behind on posts is because we're so busy. I really hate that my schedule has taken away from this blog, but I'm trying hard to keep posting whenever I can.

(In fact, I'm actually typing this on Wednesday morning, since tomorrow morning I will be going into work at a local animal shelter, so I will be very busy and very tired. :P)

1. Modern Combat Boot: I really, really love combat boots, the last pair I owned were my best friends until they fell apart! I do love this pair from Charlotte Russe, they don't look too beat-up or messy, and I love the laces.

2. Iron Fist Zombie Stomper Platform Heel: Honestly, I have NO idea what I would wear these shoes with, but I'm sure that if I had them, I could come up with something. I mean, how fun are these zombie heels? I'm not even that into the zombie trend, but these are just so... awesome!

3. Burnished Double-Buckle Boot: More boots! I like this style because of the simplicity in the design, and how easily you could dress these up or down with the right outfit.

4. Jamba Juice: I have been crrraaaaviiiing a Jamba Juice smoothie for such a long time! There is actually a store within walking distance from my house, but for some reason I just haven't made my way over there yet... I'm going to have to soon- there's a Mango-A-Go-Go calling my name!

This is Shelly, and as you've probably already noticed, I suck. A lot. I haven't posted since the Wedding, which was a MONTH and a WEEK ago. Ugh. Anyway, this feels even worse to write, because this is not one of those, "I was gone, but now I'm back posts", this is one of those, "I'm stuck in school, adios for the Summer posts". I am a sham, and signed up for Summer courses to get ahead, and they are KILLING me. I am so busy with them that I might be able to do two or three posts this Summer, tops. I'm really sorry, and I guess I will see you all in the Fall. I WILL BE BACH, MWA HAHA.

Sort-of an EOTD: Cat-Tastic!

Hello lovelies!

I apologize for my lack of posts, I've been away house-sitting for a friend of mine and I haven't had enough time to blog.

Today I had to paint my face to look like a cat(stop laughing), and so I figured I'd post about the eye makeup of the look. The color scheme of my cat face was simple; black, white and brown, so I did a very simple taupe-and-brown eye look with, of course, cat-style winged-out eyeliner.

But of course, being the unorganized girl that I am, I only took one close-up shot of the eye makeup, and the rest are cropped from full-face photos. So this is a "sort-of" EOTD. Heh. :)

(I was peeking over a table for this picture, doing a "surprised-kitty" look, as my friend described it, so that's why my eye is open so wide. :P)

The Questions I get Asked Most

Hello lovelies!

I just replied to a question one of my lovely readers, Maya, sent me via email, and I started thinking of all of the questions I've been asked before. After debating with myself for a little while, I decided to compile some of the questions I get asked the most into one blog post.

Hopefully this will be helpful to some of you, but this is by no means a way of saying "stop emailing me!" Don't hesitate to Tweet, email, or comment with your questions. :)

Q. 1: Where can I buy Aerie Color/Aerie Botanicals?

So many people have asked me this question recently, and it's no wonder because pretty much everything Aerie makes has been amazing. The answer to this question is that as far as Shelly and I know, both Aerie Color and Aerie Botanicals have been discontinued. I would say you could still stop by your local Aerie store on the off-chance that they might still sell some of the items, or might still be clearing them out, but it's been a while since I last saw any Color/Botanicals stuff in the store. You could also try eBay, but the chances might be slim. I think all we can do now is pray that Aerie decided to bring them back!

Q. 2: What is a good water-proof mascara?

Shelly answered this question a while back, and she suggested either Aerie Vast Lash Mascara, which is now obviously discontinued, so she also suggested Ulta Brand Amped Lashes Mascara in the Water-proof formula. I agree with her, and I also really love the Rimmel Sexy Curves Water-proof mascara.

Q. 3: I have really dry skin, what is a good, non-drying foundation?

As a girl who also suffers from extremely dry skin, I'm sad to say I haven't found the perfect non-drying foundation yet, but the one I use currently that has been very nice is Covergirl Clean Makeup in the Sensitive Skin formula.

Q. 4: A recommendation for shampoo/conditioner for dry, hard-to-manage hair?

Pantene Solutions for Medium-Thick hair! I can't recommend this brand enough. My hair was impossible to work with before I tried this shampoo and conditioner, but now that I've been using it for quite some time, my hair has drastically improved! I switch between the Dry-to-Moisturized formula and the Breakage-to-Strength formula.

Q. 5: What are your favorite makeup brushes?

I really love the E.L.F brushes. While they're not the number 1 best in the market, they are affordable and soft and work wonderfully! I especially love the eyeshadow brushes and total face brushes.

Q. 6: What are some stores that sell shoes for big-footed ladies?

I love this question, especially since one of the ladies that asked this question phrased it exactly like that! I can sympathize with you, since I generally wear a size 11 in Women's(I know, I know) and it's hard to find stores that carry anything larger than a 10. Some stores that carry larger sizes are Torrid(they carry up to a size 13!), Charlotte Russe(they recently started carrying 11's.), and I also have been able to find larger sizes in Target and Walmart.

Q. 7: What eyeshadow primer do you use?
This is going to sound crazy, but for the longest time I never used an eyeshadow primer, simply because I never really thought I needed one. A few months ago, I bought an eyeshadow palette from Urban Decay and it came with a mini-version of their classic Urban Decay Primer Potion, and now I love it! The full size is pretty pricey, so I think I'm going to look for a cheaper alternative. I also know that Shelly loves the UDPP in the Eden Formula.

EOTD: Switch it Up!

Hello lovelies,

While I was doing my makeup today, I realized I have been doing the exact same look for the past week: a brown, neutral eye. Soooo I decided to just switch it up and go for some purple. I guess I've been doing really simple look lately just because I've been in a rush most mornings.

I did a purple and gold smokey-ish look. I've done purple and gold, but not these exact shades before. I'm really happy with how it turned out.

(Please excuse the horrid lines/bags under my eyes- I haven't been sleeping well as of late and I think it's starting to show! Yikes!)

1. Little Brown Postal Purse from Lulu's- I really love messenger-style bags, and this one caught my eye the moment I saw it. I've actually been wanting it for a while now. It's also more affordable than most other

messenger bags I've seen.

2. Silver and Black Mustache Necklace from Torrid- I kind sorta have a thing for fake moustaches, especially the classic handlebar ones. This necklace only seemed appropriate for me.

3. Sinful Colors nail polish in Dream On- Bright fushia nail polish? Alrighty! I wanted to buy this when I was in Walgreens the other day, but they didn't have it in stock. Boo. :( But one day it shall be mine! (Image from Walgreens.com)

4. Merlin on DVD- I fell in LOVE with this show last month. I watched all three seasons in a little over a week. Really! Haha. :P (Image Credit)

Chelsea Crew Tuson Brown Heeled Work Boot from Lulu's- I know that these might not be everyone's cup of tea, but I think they're really interesting, and they look more comfortable to walk in than any other pair of heels I own! Nail Polish Haul

Hello lovelies!

Yesterday was a good day for nail polish at Walgreens, I went there to pick up a few things, and ended up with five bottles of the stuff. All Sinful Colors nail polishes are currently on sale for .99 cents, and then I stumbled on a sale display of Del-Sol nail polish, which are the color-changing ones, and they were 2/$3! I think they are usually 2/$11 or something close to that. Aaaand, Wet 'n Wild nail polishes are running on a special of only .69 cents a bottle(the same goes for the pencil eyeliners and lipsticks). So I ended up buying five bottles of nail polishes for a little over $6. Not bad!

As you can see, I didn't buy any Wet 'n Wild polishes, simply because I had picked all of these up before I got to the WnW ones and I didn't want to over-spend.

Quick review/warning: ChapStick Ultra

Innocent, no? Well actually no, it is not innocent.

I LOVE Chapstick brand lip-balm, it is le fact. I am addicted to it. So when my current Chapstick ran out (it was Cherry), I went and bought some more, but for some reason all they had was Chapstick Ultra. Chapstick Ultra turned out to be some sort of intruder masquerading as the good stuff. Pretty much my face when I tasted it was this:

Any even WITH the bad taste it still did nothing for my lips, in fact after one application my lips were noticeably DRIER. Le frown.

In total what this post tells you is Cherry Chapstick=Yum, Chapstick Ultra=Die in a hole. End of story.

It's Doctor Who day!

First off, I am sorry for being such a lousy updater. Have you ever been just not inspired? Writer's block had got the best of me and my Tumblr had ensnared me, But now I am back and will probably get back on my much neglected "That's Just Wrong Wednesdays". Not to mention the fact that I have been studying non stop for an impossible college math class in which I pretty much have the Hitler Youth Leader as a teacher. Forgive me? Pretty please? With a Cherry on Top?

I have an obsession. My obsession is Doctor Who. Today the second season with my doctor (Matt Smith) will be back on air, I am a little excited. I know Doctor Who has nothing to do with beauty or anything, but there is this thing called Polyvore that I have recently discovered, and that you have probably known about forever. It pretty much makes me able to make anything I want into a fashion :) ♥ As such I have created Doctor Who looks. I am sorry if you are a Doctor Who fan, because when I went to make the look for Christopher Eccleston the ninth Doctor, Polyvore had a heart attack or something and stopped working (maybe the Tumbl beasts are spreading?), thanks to the unfortunate Cardiac Arrest it is experiencing I only made ones for Matt Smith and David Tennant.

That "Hit Pan" Feeling

Hello lovelies!

If you've been using makeup for a while, or have been around the makeup/beauty blogosphere long enough, I'm sure you're familiar with the term "hitting pan."

If not, let me educate you a little bit: When you hit pan on a product, it's when you've used enough of the product that you can now see the metal or plastic pan below it.

For me, the "hit pan" feeling is a mixed one. On one hand, it feels great knowing that I'm capable of sticking with a product and using it all up, but on the other hand, it's a little sad because that means I'm getting closer to running out!

I've seen a few different bloggers do posts on some of the things they've hit pan on, and I thought I'd do one of my own. Here they are!

Covergirl Pressed Powder

When I first got this, I didn't use it very much, but over time I developed quite a love for it. It's great for using after you apply foundation. I put it over the places that foundation has a tendency to wear off- around the base of my nose, my chin, etc., and it's good for little touch-ups during the day.

Revlon Eyeshadow Quad

(I'm not sure the exact name of this quad, since the name on the label rubbed off.)

The creamy shade in this Revlon quad is probably my favorite highlight shade! It's got great pigmentation, VERY subtle shimmer so you don't have disco-brow bones, and it blends perfectly so that it looks very natural. I use a small, fluffy brush to put this on my brow bones and the inner-corners of my eyes.

Covergirl Eye Enhancers Eyeshadow

The label also rubbed off on this one, but I'm pretty sure the color is called Firecracker. The other two shades in this trio, a bright pink and lime green, are pretty terrible, sadly. They aren't very pigmented, and just don't show up, even on my super-pale skin. However, the last shade, which is a slightly off-white color, also works pretty nicely for a highlight shade. I've found myself reaching for this a little more lately.

Physician's Formula Organic Wear Loose Powder

GUYS. I. Might. Cry. When this runs out. It's been a trusty friend of mine for quite a while, and everything about it just works for me. The color, the texture, and even the little kabuki brush it comes with.

Maybelline Dream Mousse Blush

I have this in the shade Pink Frosting. It's a super bright, perky pink that makes me happy just looking at it. Definitely use this sparingly! A little bit on your finger blended onto the apples of your cheeks is enough to give you a fresh look. (It also shows up brighter in the sunlight- so if you're going to be outside a lot when you wear this- be reeeaaallly careful with how much you apply.)

E.L.F Eyebrow Kit

Okay, clearly the powder side of this kit is all gone- but not really! It conveniently fell from my hands and broke only minutes before I took this picture. I did, however, hit pan on that side, much like the cream side, only I use MUCH more of the powder on a daily basis than I do the cream. It's also not as dark as this picture makes it look. I think my shade is Medium, and I could probably go lighter. Anywho, this baby plus an angled brush = my brow savior.

Ulta Cool Eyeshadow Quad

This is the same quad I featured in my "Favorite Shades" post a little while back. I've hit pan on the purple and pink shadows, as you can see here. I didn't think I used the pink one that much... but apparently I do! Haha. :P

Hello lovelies!

(Told ya I'd be back ;D)

I've taken a break from vacuuming to bring you Wishful Thinking Thursday! I love the idea of a weekly or bi-weekly post, so I decided to start one for myself! As you know, Shelly makes us all laugh with "That's Just Wrong" Wednesdays, thus I did not want to do a Wednesday post. I find that Thursdays are generally the days that I have more time for blogging, so I picked Thursdays.

Ah, I'm starting to ramble. Sorry! Wishful Thinking Thursday will be a bi-weekly round up of some of the things I've had my eye on. Simple enough, right?

1. Floral Pleated Pocket Tube Dress from Torrid- I've been really enjoying the look of summery dresses lately, and have been thinking about purchasing one for myself, since I don't currently own any. I know the print of this dress is a little couch-y, but I still think it's very cute. I could imagine wearing this with a light shrug/cardigan, perhaps a belt at the waist, and a cute pair of sandals.

2. True Blue Spa Super Rich Body Cream from Bath and Body Works- I'm a sucker for a good body cream, especially with my super dry skin. People have told me good things about this one, and I'm aching to try it out. (Downside? It's a tad pricey.)

3. Robot Watch Necklace from Forever21- It's a robot. It's a watch. It's a necklace. What more can I say?

4. Pineapple Orchid Candle from Bath and Body Works- I adore this scent! It's very fruity and citrus-y, with subtle floral notes. I currently have the mini-version in my bedroom, which makes the whole place smell AMAZING.

5. M&M Cookies- I have been craving M&M cookies! I finally made some on Tuesday, and luckily they turned out pretty well. (Image Credit)

Favorite Shades: Part 1

Happy April!

No, no April Fools. I truly despise April Fools pranks... too many bad memories! Believe nothing, trust no one! Haha!

I know I've been neglecting you guys lately and I apologize for that, I've just been really busy and my brain has been a bit scattered the past week! I promise I haven't forgotten you, though!

Today I'm trying a new kind of post, it will be brought to you in 2-3 separate posts, and the topic will be my favorite shades. Shades of eyeshadow, lipstick, blush... you get the idea. I'm just trying this out, so if this post is a total failure, then this "series" will be canceled. :P I've decided the first post will be on my favorite purple eyeshadow shades. I love purple eyeshadow because it can be daring or wearable, and it compliments green eyes, as well as just being a beautiful color! I picked out my four favorite purple eyeshadows to talk about in this post.

Okay, I'm pretty close to just tossing my camera out of the window... it's horrible with swatch pictures! I assure you that all of these purples are much more vibrant in real life, and the Orglamix shade isn't so brown, it's more of a deep, wine purple.

This is the Ulta shadow. As you can see, it's been very well used so far. I love this one for purple smoky-eyes that are still wearable for the daytime.

This is probably one of my favorite loose mineral eyeshadows. It has nice, workable color that also makes great dark purple eyeliner when applied wet with an angled brush.

Urban Decay Flash- my new love! Super bright, satiny purple with teeny flecks of pink(glitter). Great for fun, summery looks!
(I have this shade in the Show Pony Shadow Box- expect a review on that soon!)

This purple is from a Maybelline ExpertWear eyeshadow palette called Hushed Tints. It is a very subtle color with soft pigmentation, so it's a perfect building color, and I like to use it to blend other purple shades together.

Happy St. Patrick's Day! I love this day. Love it! I have some pretty sweet green eye makeup on today, but my camera is having issues so I'm not sure if I'll be able to get any pictures to post. Boo. :( I'll just have to recreate the look another time if I can't get it today.

Hello lovelies!

This post is probably going to be a bit random, as it's not necessarily about any Misikko product in particular, but the way they shipped them to me. ;)

I recently won a little contest from Misikko, and when the package arrived... I was very impressed. I can't say enough how much I LOVE it when companies take the time to really put a package together nicely before they send it out. Take a looksie!

Well, open it up and you'll find...

(To be fair, everything inside was a little more neatly packed than what you see here... I had to rearrange it all after I ripped into it. xD)

I was only expecting the three products I had won, so seeing all of this was a lovely surprise. I actually won a flat-iron from Misikko on another beauty blog quite a while ago, and the package was also incredibly sweet and well thought-out, much like this one.

First up, we have a heat-protectant mat, which is lovely since mine is getting a bit worn out, tied up with an adorable ribbon and fake white rose.

And the monkeys! Oh, the monkeys. I have a soft-spot for plush monkeys, and I don't know why, so these little guys were too cute!

Underneath that, we have the three products I won, along with two pink drawstring bags that hold hand sanitizer and nail files. You can never have too much sanitizer(or nail files, really.)!

I was cleaning my closet today, and I just kind of stopped and looked at my shoes. I don't have very many pairs, but out of the ones I do have, they're all very different. My taste in shoes ranges from beat-up Chuck Taylors to 6-inch purple heels. I like that about myself, heheh!

Review: Softlips Cherry Lip Balm Protectant

I recently joined a Softlips survey panel, and as a thank-you they sent me a package of the Cherry Lip Balm Protectant.

I'm gonna go ahead and start by saying that I'm such a lip balm-junkie. I hate having chapped lips, which I get quite often, so I always have lip balm in my purse, my bathroom counter, my desk, vanity, etc,. So... yeah. Lots of balm.

Softlips is a brand that I really enjoy, so getting these in the mail was a pleasant surprise! Let's talk about the packaging. The balm comes in a long, sleek white tube with red writing, which I prefer over the bulky ChapStick tubes. Here's a photo for comparison:

(I know it looks like there's dirt on the lid of the Softlips tube, but I promise it's just a shadow from the wrapper!)

The Softlips tubes are much more convenient to pop in your pocket, since they're much smaller, and you get a little more control in where the balm goes, so that you don't end up with a shiny balm-ring around your mouth, if that makes any sense? :P Plus, the tubes are cuter. Haha!

It works in the same, standard lip balm/ChapStick tube way, with the twist-up bottom. Once in a while the balm will get stuck and not retract, so I'll have to just pop it back down with my pinky. No big deal.

Another comparison between the Softlips balm and ChapStick is that the Softlips balm offers SPF 20, while ChapStick is only SPF 4. Sun protection is important, even on your lips!

The scent, obviously, is cherry, and it smells very much like cherry candy or cherry ChapStick. I really love the scent, but I could never use the cherry ChapStick because it was dyed red, so it would usually make my mouth look weirdly irritated. What I love about the cherry Softlips is that it's clear, so no red stains for me!

More importantly, it's very moisturizing! It feels so smooth and soft when I put it on. I carry it around in my pocket with me so that whenever my lips are chapped I can just reach for this baby, which is really important since it's been very cold and windy here lately. It also lasts a pretty long time, so I don't have to constantly re-apply every five minutes.

I would say that if your lips are VERY cracked and dry, you should exfoliate them before you apply this balm- or any balm for that matter, so that it doesn't just get trapped/build up in the little bits of cracked skin.

Grrr... .my Softlips addiction is growing.

I love these shoes, but I have a feeling that they are the type of item that you either love or hate. So my thinking is that I would like to know, do you love 'em or hate 'em?

I got them at Estrella War, which is like a Renaissance festival, but cooler. The weird kid standing next to me is my brother, and just for reference I was asking my mom where she wanted me to stand for the picture when she took the picture, hence the face.

You can actually see the rack of shoes in the back left side. They were $30, which is totally worth it, as my Girl Scout leader bought a pair FIVE years ago, wears them like everyday and she still has them.

Polish!

I am a big cheap- skate, I cannot stand to pay more than five dollars for a bottle of polish. This proves difficult because good polish is normally way up there in price. Like Essie brand polish, which is my favorite is like eight dollars, and you don't get much. However, my cheap-skate nature is fantastically excited every time I walk into Walgreens. Why? Because they sale a brand of polish called Sinful Colors and it lasts and looks just as good as any expensive polish I have ever bought. This time I walked into the store I found new colors, on sale two for three!

Why Not.

This was a very opaque polish, it glides on smooth and you don't need more than one coat.

San Francisco

This one is soooo my favorite. It is gorgeous, this picture does not do it justice. It took two coats for complete coverage.

Nail Junkie

I am kind of disappointed with this one. It is not a very green-blue, which is what I wanted, it is more of a baby blue with different sized glitters. It's still pretty, but not my favorite.

Show Me the Way

This one is the same color as San Fran, but lighter. It also took two coats.

Blue Moon

This one is Wet 'n Wild. I love the color, but it took five coats to make it look good. FIVE.

Review: Avon Moisture Effective Makeup Remover Lotion

Hello lovelies!

Today I just kind of hung around the house and walked my dogs, listening to all of the people having Super Bowl parties in my neighborhood. I've never really cared much for football, so I didn't watch the game. However, I did tune in and watched a bit of The Black Eyes Peas and Usher perform during half-time... not impressed.

Anywho!

Today I have a review of Avon's Moisture Effective Makeup Remover Lotion, which I have been using for some time now.

I had been using this makeup remover for a while and then I lost my bottle when I took a trip to California, but I bought another one a while ago, and figured it would be a good chance to do a review. :)

As the name suggests, the product has a very lotion-like consistency, and doesn't have much of a smell. When I take my eye makeup off with it, I dab a little bit on a cotton ball and swipe it across my eyes.

Here's an example of the effectiveness of the remover. I used it to take off the swatches from the Stila Girl Travel Palette. Granted, I did use a bit too much of the lotion for this, but it comes out of the bottle pretty quickly. Whoops!

I poured the lotion directly onto the makeup for this, as you can see, and then I used a cotton ball to spread it around. Then I wiped it off completely with a clean cotton ball.

Ta-da! All gone!

One of the wonderful things about Moisture Plus is that it doesn't irritate the skin around my eyes, and it doesn't dry it out, either. Another plus is that if you get a little bit in your eye, it really does not sting.(Of course, make sure you wash it out!)

I know that this review isn't very long, but I think really, this is all you need to know! It's a great makeup remover, and if lotion removers are your thing, give this a shot!

Hello lovelies!

Whew, it's been a buuusssyyy week for me! How has your week been?

On Monday, I got my three free Zoya nail polishes in the mail. It took a while, but at least they got here! I just wanted to do a quick post to show you what polishes I chose!

L to R: Dovima, Cheryl, Luna.
(That's my dog, Friday, getting in on the picture action in the background. :P)

Dovima is a matte, charcoal black polish. It looks like there might be a few flecks of glitter mixed it, but there is no shimmer whatsoever.

Luna is the eye-catcher of the group! Tons of silver glitter in a light gray base.

Cheryl is a beautiful dark red, with brown and gold undertones, with some gold shimmer.

I apologize for the blue-ish tint to these photos, the weather has been really strange lately, which doesn't make for good pictures. Eyes of The Day: Pinks and Purples

Hello lovelies!

Today I was feeling a bit ambitious with my makeup, so I whipped out the brightest shades of pink and purple eyeshadow that I own and started playing around with different ideas.

I don't usually wing-out my eyeliner, simply because my eyes are so watery that by the end of the day the eyeliner has either disappeared or turned into a smeared mess. Grrr.... But I decided to give it a go today!

Anywho! I have a pretty crap camera, so the colors look soooo washed out here, but I can assure you that the pink is a crazy bright hot pink, and the purple shades are much more stunning in real life.

Review: Nivea A Kiss of Relief SOS Lip Care

Hello lovelies!

I'm sooo sorry I haven't posted in so long, but I've had a few personal issues that needed to be taken care of, and some parties that needed to be planned, and I just haven't found the time to sit down and write a blog post. So again, I apologize!

Today is actually my birthday, so I thought it would be a good birthday gift to myself to get some writing done! This post shall be a review of Nivea A Kiss of Relief SOS Lip Care.

(Sorry about the torn packaging- I ripped into this right after I bought it. As in, I was sitting in my car in the parking lot when I opened it. xD)

A Kiss of Relief promises to heal dry, cracked lips while "supporting the healing process." Alright, I'm in! My lips are always very dry and cracked, and because of that, I can't really wear much lipstick, because it just sets into the heavy cracks on my lips and looks... well, bad.

The actual product is a pale white cream, that isn't extremely thick or thin, but a happy medium. The scent is pretty hard to describe. It's not fruity or minty, but it does have a slight aroma of Chamomile. When you put it on your lips, at first it has a slight glossy finish, but after a little while, as it absorbs into your lips, the glossiness goes away and looks more like a balm. It's a bit sticky, so apply it sparingly. A little goes a long way with this!

Alright... here's the bad news.

This stuff tastes horrible! I never realized how much I licked my lips until I started using this. It has a very bitter taste, like licking a bar of soap. Bleh! If you lick your lips a lot, I would suggest topping this with a gloss or balm that has a better taste to try and block it out. All I can say is that it's helped me stop licking my lips! :P

And now for the GOOD news!
This stuff REALLY WORKS. After using it for about two days, my lips were healed and moisturized, and no longer the cracked mess that they had been before. I apply one coat in the morning and let it completely sink into my lips, and then once again after I wash my face before I go to bed. If my lips are feeling chapped in the middle of the day, I'll put some on then, but the one coat in the morning usually does the job(which is a good change, since I used to constantly apply chapstick all day).

So with the results I'm getting, I'll keep using A Kiss of Relief, even if the taste is bad. :)

Review: L'Oreal True Match Super-Blendable Makeup

I don't think I've reviewed a foundation before, so today is a first for me! I'm reviewing the L'Oreal True Match Super-Blendable Makeup for you today. :)

L'Oreal True Match Super-Blendable Makeup in C1 Alabaster

One of the things I like most about the True Match line of makeup is that all of the shades come in warm, cool, and neutral undertones, which makes finding your right shade even easier. Plus, they carry a wide variety of shades. They have some pretty pale foundations, which is good news for me(I'm also known as Casper the Ghost), and they have some very dark foundations as well.

I believe the only other L'Oreal foundation I used was the True Match Roller foundation, so I didn't really have much experience with L'Oreal liquid foundations. The main brands of foundation I've used in the past have been CoverGirl and Maybelline. But I was pretty excited to try this out, as I've heard lots of good things about this foundation.

They're not lying when they say "super blendable!" This foundation blended really easily for me and didn't cake up anywhere on my skin; I only had a bit of trouble over a few rough spots of skin, but I was able to work it out in the end.

I have really sensitive skin, and this foundation hasn't irritated it or made me break out, and it does a really good job of covering up any redness and unevenness.

I always set my foundation with powder, but for the sake of this review I skipped the powder one morning to see how long this foundation would last on its own, and had good results. It lasted for the better part of the day and only needed a few touch-ups around my nose and forehead.

Really, my biggest complaint is that I wish there were more product in the bottle, but what can ya do?

Will I continue to purchase this? Probably. I'm happy with it so far, and if I don't find something else that I completely fall in love with, I will keep using this foundation with no problem. :)

Review: Physician's Formula Mineral Wear Blush

A while ago I picked up a few items at CVS that were in their big beauty clearance sale, and I will be trying to review all of the items I bought, so first up is the Physician's Formula Mineral Wear Blush in Pink Glow.

(I just wanted to quickly apologize that I don't have the best pictures for this review- I was in such a rush today that I just snapped a few and carried on.)

As you can see, there's a little 75% off sticker on the corner on the packaging, which meant I only had to pay about $3 for this blush. Yay for CVS beauty clearance sale!

I've always had a hard time finding a good blush for my skin-tone. I'm suuuper pale, and so I usually use a light cream blush because I feel like they are a bit more sheer than powder blushes, and therefore easier for me to control. However, once in a while I'll pick up a powder blush in hopes that I can make it work for me.

Sorry for the little smudge on the left side of the blush, when I opened the compact my thumb brushed against the surface.

I've never used a "two-tone" blush before, but now that I have... I think I'm in love. Haha! Seriously! Pink Glow is the perfect shade for my pale skin. It's a gentle peachy-pink that makes my cheeks look soft, with a slightly glowing look.

This blush is pretty pigmented, so I use a really soft brush(this one, to be exact) and a light hand to apply it to the apples of my cheeks. I'm seriously glad that I finally found a powder blush that doesn't look crazy on me! The blush comes in a nice compact that feels pretty sturdy, and has a separate "level" that holds the brush and a nicely sized mirror. Have a look!

The retail price is about $12, and for that price I do wish that it came with a little more product, but since I don't wear blush every day, I think this should last me a pretty decent amount of time.

If you see this blush on clearance and CVS, definitely pick one up!

Review: Stila Trendsetting in Tokyo Palette

Today I bring you a review of the Stila Trendsetting in Tokyo palette, which was the third palette in the travel series that Stila released a few months ago.

Let's dig in, shall we?

I have to start off by saying that this palette is so adorable! It's pretty small, and fits pretty perfectly inside my hand, so it really is a perfect palette for traveling. Just tuck it inside your suitcase, or in your purse for on-the-go touch-ups. It's also pretty affordable at only $10. I love me some affordable makeup!

Trendsetting in Tokyo comes with four eyeshadows and one convertible color, which is usable on lips and cheeks. The eyeshadow colors you get are Sake, Kawai, Shibuya and Peace Sign. The convertible color is Sakura. I really love how the colors are named after things that have to do with the city the palette is themed around. Cute!

Large pan is Sakura. Top two shadows are Shibuya and Sake. Bottom two are Peace Sign and Kawai.

All of the eyeshadow colors are very pretty and well pigmented, and go on pretty smooth. The convertible color looks pretty intimidating, but if you use it sparingly on your cheeks, it gives a nice, pink flush. But my favorite way to use it is on my lips! At first, it is pretty glossy, but after a while, the shine fades away and leaves a beautiful, bright pink color. Lo-o-o-o-ve!

That's Just Wrong Wednesdays

Wednesdays just keep sneaking up on me don't they? My room renovation ended up taking an extra week because he (being my Vati (Vati meaning Vater, which is German for Dad)) decided to get new carpet and so we had to shoppe, which added an extra week, but I digress. Today I got to pick up my Birdie, who I named Snape (Any Harry Potter people following?). I only got him about three months ago, but I am already head over heals for my Snapey. Anyway I had to pick him up from a friend's house where he has been staying so that he is out of the way of the paint fumes. Here is a picture of him, isn't he a cutie?

You know it is Friday I hope unless you have been stuck under a rock, which means that this post should have been written two days ago.

This was an ill fated boy band. We all know one thing too, if they had succeeded everyone would have liked the one in the middle wearing the light blue pa-can I even call them pants? Great Celebrity Makeup

Okay, okay, before we get started with this post, I just wanted to point out that I rarely pay attention to celebrities, and I don't worship them or think I need to. However, sometimes I see some celebrities that have such beautiful makeup, that I just felt like it would be interesting to compile some of them.

Of course most of them will look amazing, because they have professional makeup artists, but still- gorgeous!

Gah, this woman is stunning! I normally don't like super-silver eyeshadow, but I think it looks beautiful with her skin tone, and the lipgloss she's wearing here is subtle and isn't too bold, to keep the focus on her smoky eyes.

If you're going to do big lashes, do it like Hayley. She, like everyone, has had her fair share of makeup mistakes, but man, the girl can really pull it together. With such a vibrant hair color, I think sticking to basic, simple makeup is a good idea. She's got either dark brown eyeshadow or eyeliner, a shimmery cream shade on the inner corners and lower lashline, and plush, dark eyelashes. Beautiful!

As the title clearly states, this is probably a waste of time. Today I was on another blog with a banner similiar to ours, in that it had two cartoon girls on each side of the title. As I looked at it I found myself wondering which cartoon went to which blogger-girl. Review: e.l.f 32 Piece Eyeshadow Collection

Hello lovelies!

Today I bring you a review of the e.l.f 32 Piece Eyeshadow Collection, which was given to me as a Christmas gift from my wonderful blogging partner, Shelly.

I have been hoping to find the e.l.f Shadow Collections in Target, but I haven't seen any, so when Shelly surprised me with the 32 Piece, I was very excited!

e.l.f 32 Piece Eyeshadow Collection. Retail: 5.00

(I forgot to take a picture of the entire front of the palette, sorry! But as the above picture shows, it is matte black with a clear window to the shadows.)

You get a pretty wide variety of shadows in this palette, from a basic, low-shimmer black and chocolate brown, to a bright, shiny electric blue and bubblegum pink! The texture of the shadows are also very nice and smooth, easy to apply. There might be one or two that are a bit chalky, but definitely not hard to work with. I think that with this palette, e.l.f has definitely improve the quality/texture of their palettes. I own the Eye Brights Beauty Book, and was pretty bummed at the texture of the shadows. This palette makes up for it!

From the shadows that I've used out of it so far, the staying power is pretty fair. As with most shadows, they would probably last longer over a primer, but without, I'm pretty impressed.

All of the shadows contain some sort of shimmer/glitter. There are no true mattes. However, there are a few shades that have very minimal shimmer/glitter. But if you want a palette with matte shadows, then this wouldn't be for you.

Here are a few swatches from the palette, over just my skin with no primer:

(My camera takes pretty horrible swatch pictures. The shade that looks like a charcoal brown is actually a very dark, steel grey.)

I am in love with this palette, pretty much. I also love that it has a very big mirror on the inside, so that I can actually use that to do my eye makeup instead of having to hold a separate mirror.

Between the color variety, the quality of the shadows, and the price, I don't think you can go wrong with this palette.

So if you cannot tell that Kieran and I are kind of in love with Aerie Color, you must be new around here or you don't pay much attention (don't worry we still love you). Anyway, that is why it is my obligation to tell you that Aerie Color AND Aerie Botanicals have both been discontinued, due to American Eagle Outfitters budget cuts. The good part: because of the discontinuation everything is on clearance for three dollars and some change. That means that lotion you've been totally coveting for the last month that normally costs $12.95 (or something) is now about three dollars - FULL SIZED, yeah that's right, be shocked. Before it got discontinued Aerie came out with it's holiday collection and let me just tell you it is absolutely luscious! I got a twenty dollar full face compact that is about $20.00 for $3.00. I am sure they must have had quite a lot of stock left because I find out about a week after they made the call (that was last week) and they still had quite a few things, so no need to hurry, but I know you want too! Anyway this is a courtesy post for all of you Aerie and/or deal lovers out there.

Hello lovelies!

Happy December! I honestly can't believe that it's here already! Here in Arizona, the cold weather only began towards the end of November, and some days now are still pretty warm! However, it is definitely getting colder as the days go on, and I finally get to wear my winter clothing! Boots, scarves, coats, tights! Ahh, layering. How I love thee. Let me count the ways! I got to thinking about it and I really enjoy reading and looking at the looks Kieran puts up. It looked like fun so I decided to give it a go. This is what I came up with when I was thinking about how much fashion varies country to country. I am hoping that this will be a first in a couple of posts about the fashions of other country's and their comparisons to the American "norm".
In my opinion the style of the average American girl is laid back, casual, but very classic. Most American girls have a way to their look that says "I just threw this on", but at the same time they still look amazing (I really do wish I could figure out how they do that, as I, an American girl take forever figuring out what to wear). I used mostly brands that I love wearing so making this collage was quite fun :) Note that is is not me stereotyping anyone, this is just what I see the most of in my area. The ones on the right are plus sized.
